We have been selling from this shop since 1993. First in person, then online. And one thing has not changed: an order is only as good as what lands on your doormat.
So here is exactly what happens after you click “buy” at willybanjo.com.
You place the order — what happens next?
The order comes through to us here at 13a Lowthian Street, Preston. If it lands before 2pm on a working day, it goes same day. Most orders placed before 2pm are picked, packed and handed to Royal Mail that afternoon.
If your order comes in after 2pm, it goes out the next working day.
One thing worth being honest about: Royal Mail do not collect at weekends. So if you order on a Friday after 2pm, your parcel will not be collected until Monday afternoon. That is not us being slow — that is just how postal collection works. We are not Amazon. We do not have a seven-day logistics operation running around the clock. What we do have is a real shop that has been here since 1993, and we pack and post your order ourselves.
If you need something urgently at the weekend — come in. The shop is open Saturday 11am–5:30pm and Sunday 11am–4pm ish. You will leave with it in your hand, you will not pay a platform percentage on top, and frankly it is a much better experience anyway.
Picking and checking your order
Before anything gets packed, it gets checked. The right item, the right size, the right quantity — we go through it before it goes in the bag. If something looks off — packaging damaged, wrong variant, anything that should not leave looking that way — we catch it before it reaches you.
We are a small operation. That means no warehouse picking errors where your order disappears into a fulfilment black hole. Someone here actually handles what you have ordered.
How we pack it
Most orders go out in recycled post bags. If something needs a bit more protection, we wrap it up properly — bubble wrap, padding, whatever is needed to make sure it arrives in one piece.
We are not trying to win awards for packaging. We are trying to make sure what you ordered actually arrives the way it should.
How it gets to you
The vast majority of orders go out via Royal Mail Tracked 48. That gives you:
- A tracking number so you can follow it
- Delivery usually within two working days of dispatch (though Royal Mail set their own timescales and we cannot guarantee their end)
- Confirmation that it has left us
Some items — particularly anything that requires age verification — may go out signed for instead. If that applies to your order, you will need to be available to sign, or arrange redelivery with Royal Mail.
You will get a dispatch confirmation from us when the order goes out. Check your junk folder if you do not see it.
If something goes wrong
It does not happen often, but it does happen. Here is what to do.
If your order arrives damaged: Take a photo of the packaging and the damaged item before you open it further. Then get in touch with us — email is the easiest way. We will sort it.
If your order is delayed: Check your tracking number first. Royal Mail occasionally holds parcels without updating the tracking, and it usually moves within a day or two. If it has been more than five working days since dispatch and the tracking has not moved, contact us and we will investigate.
If you have ordered the wrong thing: Drop us a message as soon as you realise. If the order has not gone yet, we can sometimes amend it. If it has already been dispatched, we will talk you through the returns process.
The best way to reach us is by email. You can also WhatsApp us on 07452 933792 or phone the shop on 01772 887772 during opening hours — Monday to Saturday 11am–5:30pm, Sunday and Bank Holidays 11am–4pm ish. We are not a call centre, so if we do not pick up straight away, a WhatsApp message is the quickest way to get a response.
Or just come to the shop
We will be straight with you: coming in is better.
You can see what you are buying. You can ask questions. You will not pay platform fees on top of the price. You will leave with it in your hand and not spend the next 48 hours watching a tracking link.
We are at 13a Lowthian Street, Preston — we have been here since 1993, and we are not going anywhere. If you are local, or passing through, just come in. We would rather you did.
One more thing
We are a real shop, run by real people, in Preston, Lancashire. We are not a dropshipper. We are not a faceless warehouse. We pick your order ourselves, we pack it ourselves, and we post it ourselves.
That means if something is wrong, you are talking to the person who packed it — not a customer service script.
The Legendary Willy Banjo Shop has been at it since 1993. We would rather get it right than get it out the door fast. Though ideally, we do both.
