Brand: Italico cigars

Showing all 2 results

Italico make Italian cigars from dark fired Kentucky tobacco. That last part is the whole point, and it is worth explaining: Kentucky tobacco grown in Italy and cured over open wood fires produces something quite unlike a Caribbean or Central American cigar. Drier, more savoury, and much more assertive.

We stock two, and they are deliberately different from each other.

Il Buttero — Italian for cowboy — is the traditional one. A cheroot-style cigar made entirely from Italian Kentucky: an aged dark fired wrapper from the Veneto over dark fired filler from the Veneto, Tuscany and Campania. Nothing imported, nothing softened.

Giallo Soave is the unusual one. Same dark fermented Kentucky base, but infused with the essence of Soave, the dry white wine from Verona. Our tasting note on the product page describes it as delicate rather than heavy, with lemon and almond and a floral edge. It is not what most people expect a cigar to taste like.

Both are five to a pack. If you have only ever smoked Caribbean cigars, the Italian Kentucky style is a genuinely different thing rather than a variation on one.
