Pipe Screens & Gauzes

Showing all 7 results

Bong gauzes and pipe screens — the small metal or glass disc that sits in the bowl and stops bits being pulled through into the stem. Gauze, screen and mesh all mean the same thing; you’ll see all three used.

We stock brass and steel gauzes from Basil Bush in four sizes, Red Eye heavy duty steel pipe screens in 12.5mm and 16.5mm, drop-in cone gauzes in 15mm and 20mm for cone-shaped bowls, and reusable glass daisy screens if you’d rather not keep replacing them.

Which pipe screen? Sizes at a glance

Screen Material Sizes Best for
Basil Bush Brass Gauze Brass 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm Flat bowls. Soft, easy to press into shape
Basil Bush Steel Gauze Steel 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm Flat bowls. Stiffer than brass
Red Eye Heavy Duty Steel Thick steel 12.5mm, 16.5mm Pipes. Holds its shape
Basil Bush Drop-In Cone Steel 15mm, 20mm Cone-shaped and tapered bowls
Glass Daisy Screens (100) Glass 14.4mm, 18.8mm Reusable. Wash and refit

Which you need depends on the bowl. Flat screens suit most straight bowls, cone gauzes are made for tapered ones, and glass daisies wash out and go back in rather than being thrown away. If you’re unsure of the size, measure across the inside of the bowl.

Pipe screen FAQ

What size pipe screen do I need?

Measure across the inside of the bowl and pick the nearest size. With flat metal gauzes, slightly bigger is fine: press it in and it’ll sit snug.

Brass or steel gauze?

Brass is softer and easier to shape into the bowl. Steel is stiffer and holds up longer. If you want the toughest, go for the Red Eye heavy duty.

Are glass screens better than metal?

Glass daisies don’t bend or burn through, and you can clean and reuse them. Metal gauzes are cheaper to swap out when they clog.
