RAW was created by Josh Kesselman in 2005, but the idea goes back to 1993. Kesselman opened a small smoke shop in Gainesville, Florida and became convinced that the market lacked something obvious: a truly natural, unbleached rolling paper with no chalk, dyes or chemical additives. Every mill he approached laughed at him. Eventually one didn’t. He put $1 million on the line, and RAW was born.
The papers are made from unbleached natural plant fibre — the recognisable translucent brown colour comes from the absence of bleaching, not from any additive. The criss-cross watermark promotes an even, slow burn. The sugar gum strip is plant-based. Nothing is added that doesn’t need to be there.
RAW now produces the full range — Classic, Organic Hemp, Black, pre-rolled cones, tips, rolling machines, trays, grinders, ashtrays and accessories. Number one in rolling paper sales globally. We’ve stocked it since it arrived in the UK.
